While European IT markets are not what they used to be and currently can best be described as 'sluggish', software companies are well advised to look for new markets elsewhere. And the good news is that they don't have to go very far: Europe's southern neighbours - from Morocco to Syria - present a huge market, both in all the 'e-technologies' and in 'classical' IT applications. This market is not only for the big names in the IT domain, but also for the European SMEs. Business Partnerships are the ideal way for both sides explore this market.

Admittedly, most economies of the Mediterranean Partner Countries (MPC) are far from being at their peak, however growth rates are of an order that many European countries can only dream of and investment in the 'e-sectors' is substantial in all countries. Business opportunities are great and with the right partnership success is guaranteed.

To better explore these markets and help both sides to find the right business partners is the aim of Medressa. This initiative started in 1998 and by now has carried out 37 Business Partnership Events in the entire region. 200 European organisations attended these events and discussed business and technology needs with 2500 local companies, organisations and associations. Medressa was supported by the European Commission during this period and is now run on an independent basis.
